10 gallon – week 3 update
Week 3 brings us a bit of change. The ludwigia brevipes managed to grow too tall for the water level and started to bed at the surface. The bacopa caroliana were also showing lots of growth and needed a trim. Once again, I did a 50% water change and trimmed both of these plants before vacuuming the dwarf hairgrass. Surprisingly, there was a lot of detritus even though I was conservative in my feedings.
I wasn’t as disciplined this week with the carbon and fertilizer dosing, but the plants managed to get enough nutrients from the fish, which is great. During the water change, I replanted the trimmings pretty much in the same areas as where they were taken. I definitely need to get a background to add to the visual appeal of the tank. It’s on the to do list for week 4. Below is a photo of the tank before trimming and the water change.
I don’t know about you, but I think I need to up my photo game as well. Perhaps it’s time to dig out the old dSLR for these photos. Anyway, that’s it for this week. See you at the end of week 4!
